Bill Whitford is the founder of Oamaru BioSystems. He has more than 30 years of experience leading biotechnology product and process development teams, including leadership roles at Cytiva and Arcadis.

Early in his career, he led R&D teams developing equipment and materials for biomedical research and manufacturing, including production of protein biologics and vaccines in animal cell lines. His commercialized products include defined cell culture media for large-scale and perfusion applications, fed-batch supplements, and assisted reproduction products.

An invited lecturer at international conferences and author of more than 500 articles, book chapters, and patents, he now focuses on ATMP production, bioprocess intensification, AI in pharmaceutical development and production, biointelligent manufacturing, and sustainable biomanufacturing.

His professional service includes chairing the 3SMAGNET Industry Advisory Board and peer review for the PDA Journal of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology and the NCCHC Journal of Correctional Health Care.
